Important Registration Info from Cranford Board of Ed

On behalf of the Cranford Board of Education, please see the Registration letter for important information. Registration for both full and half day kindergarten, as well as first graders new to the district, will be done online followed by an in-person appointment and will take place Monday, February 5 through Friday February 9 between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM.

The Elementary After-School Social is on Tuesday, January 16th @ 3:00

Beat the cold and join us at the elementary after-school social on Tuesday, January 16th from 3:00-4:30 pm.

Family STEM Night is Thursday, January 18 @ 7:00!


Do you want to know how astronauts live in space?  Come to Family STEM Night at OAS on Thursday, January 18, 2018.  Design a lunar habitat, construct a robotic arm and figure out how to insulate a space suit.  Living in space is not easy and engineers need your help to develop solutions to important design challenges.

Wendy Mass ~ Author Assembly is on January 19th!

New York Times bestselling author of 18 novels for young people!

The OAS PTA is proud to announce that Wendy Mass will be speaking to OAS elementary and middle school students on Friday, 1/19/18.

She is best known for her award-winning books A Mango-Shaped Space, The Candymakers, and 11 Birthdays.  Her most successful book, A Mango-Shaped Space, won the American Library Association Schneider Family Book Award.

The OAS PTA’s biggest fundraiser – BAND NIGHT – will be held Friday, March 23rd. Each year, the profit from Band Night is used for important things like school assemblies, student social events, teacher mini-grants, and OAS beautification projects.

The Band Night committee is seeking voluntary donations to help make this event a success. Either cash or a check made out to OAS PTA, in an envelope marked “Band Night Donations” with your child’s name and class on it, or items for the tricky tray baskets.

Exciting News!!!!

OAS Grades 3-5 will have their own yearbook!!!! We cannot make a great yearbook without your pictures so be ready for the First Day of School!! You can email your pictures right from your phone to:

What’s BYOT?

byod1-resized-600BYOT stands for “Bring Your Own Technology” and it’s the latest trend that schools across the world are implementing!  Students are given the option to bring in their own device (non-gaming, non-phone).  Tablets, laptops, etc… are acceptable.  The devices simply need to be WiFi ready and they can connect to the school’s internet, which comes with content controls built in.  OAS recently announced their BYOT Program, which is OPTIONAL for Middle School Students (6th, 7th, and 8th graders only).  Visit the districts BYOT page for all the details:

OAS Cares – Learn more about Helping Hands

Do you know of a family in the OAS community dealing with an emergency or a family crisis?

The volunteers of Helping Hands, a PTA organization, can alleviate some of the stress by providing dinners for a week or more. Service is confidential and only with the approval of the family.
