Locker Shelf for Middle School Students

Many OAS middle school students use a shelf to organize their lockers. However, most store-bought shelves do not fit our locker dimensions. Here are instructions on how to create one yourself. It’s easy!

A custom locker shelf can be made quite easily using three pieces of wood purchased at any local hardware store, Home Depot or Lowes.

Here are the dimensions for the three pieces:

Side Pieces (2):  13 ½ inches high (tall)  x  10-1/4 inches wide (across) and 3/4 inch thick

Top Piece (1):  8 ¾  inches high (tall) x 10-1/4 inches wide (across) and 1/2 inch thick

The two sides are inserted inside the locker against the walls and the third piece lies across the top to make the shelf.

Books and binders can then be placed underneath and on the second tier to create more storage room.

What’s BYOT?

byod1-resized-600BYOD stands for “Bring Your Own Technology” and it’s the latest trend that schools across the world are implementing!  Students are given the option to bring in their own device (non-gaming, non-phone).  Tablets, laptops, etc… are acceptable.  The devices simply need to be WiFi Ready and they can connect to the school’s internet, which comes with content controls built in.  OAS recently announced their BYOT Program, which is OPTIONAL for Middle School Students (6th, 7th, and 8th graders only).  Visit the districts BYOT Page for all the details:
